Boy Scout Troop 577 is calling all Webelos to join us for a Friday evening and Saturday to perform service projects at Redwood Glenn Salvation Army Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains just outside of Scotts Valley. projects include clearing weeds from propane tanks, clearing a prayer walk trail as it has been overgrown, clear the weeds from volleyball courts and so much more. This project begins to lay the ground work for a much bigger project involving several Troops and Packs.
This weekend also gives Webelos a chance to get to know Troop 577 and see the type of service work that the Troop is involved with. Troop 577 has adopted the Salvation Army Camp because of the camps work with At Risk kids, and inter-city kids from Santa Clara Valley and the greater bay Area.
This weekend will qualify your Webelos toward service hours for Good Turn for America Service award by working for the Salvation Army and or they can earn their Year of Celebration Service Ribbon
Please contact Dennis Conte, Troop Committee Chairman or Bruce Porter, Troop Scout Master if you would like additional information or would like to sign-up for this service opportunity. Due DATE is Nov 3rd to sign-up.

Scouting for Food
Boy Scouts gives good will and in the Boy Scout Promise, a boy scout promises to help other people at all times. By participating in a Scouting for Food program, scouts come a step closer to fulfilling those words. Across the country, in many councils and districts, thousands of troops and packs with millions of scouts involved collect tens of millions of pounds of food which is distributed to needy neighbors. If your troop or pack is not involved in a local program, or if there is not a program in place, this is a great opportunity for you to help improve your scouting program.
Troop 577 will distribute the door hangers beginning at 9:00AM on November 14th. The food will than be collected on November 21st and turned into the Council office. The food collected will be distributed to 3 different food banks, and our distribution center is the Second Harvest Food bank.
The top collector in the Troop will earn the right to pie the Scout Master, Troop goal is to collect 2000 pounds.
Recruitment
Troop 577 is RECRUITING, Yes it is recruitment time and Troop 577 is
inviting YOU!, yes YOU! Where else can a young man learn to make fire, go camping, learn how to make a Kayak, and experience the adventure of a life time, only in Scouting. Troop 577 is a Christian based Troop and we strongly encourage our scouts to take part in our weekly versus study.
